Mystic Warrior is a fine collaboration between Mad Professor and Lee Perry, perhaps the best work they have done together. Although the Professor's style is unique, the music here is somewhat reminiscent of the upsetting work that Scratch did with the Upsetters in the early 1970s. There is a somewhat menacing mood to much of the album, with Scratch taking aim at hypocrites, parasites, crazy baldheads and "pirates of the airwaves" throughout. The stand out tracks include a weirdo version of Bob Marley's "Crazy Baldheads" ("Dub Those Crazy Baldheads"), and the hilariously angry and scatological "25 Years Ago", in which Perry grumbles "I've been working in the studio all my life, and I don't have no fucking money..." Interestingly, Scratch predicts that he will win a Grammy Award in "Good Lucky Perry"; the prediction came true 13 years later when Jamaican ET won the Grammy for best reggae album.
