A note about Lee Perry & The Wailers
Over the years, a lot of the music that The Wailers recorded between 1969-71 has been heavily bootlegged
by pirates and crummy record companies. This has resulted in a flood of cheap Bob Marley collections, usually containing the same 20 songs over and over again. Many are credited as Lee Perry productions even though they are not.
To make things more
confusing, Trojan has endlessly recycled their Wailers material in more than
a dozen collections and box sets, most of which overlap each other. While
the quality of the Trojan sets is usually very good, the sheer number of
them is baffling.
There are many good choices for the Lee Perry produced
Wailers material – the best of them are listed in this discography. Be warned
that almost any cheap Bob Marley album that is not listed
here is most likely of dubious quality and should be avoided.
