I Am The Upsetter is a fantastic 4-CD set with extensive and insightful sleeve notes by Jeremy Collingwood, great looking design, and an almost faultless selection of material. The set covers 1968 - 1978, "the golden years" of Lee Perry indeed: from the rollicking early reggae of "Return Of Django" to dreader numbers like "Preacher Man" and feverish Black Ark masterpieces like "City Too Hot", this set contains more than four hours of the music that legends are made of. Besides of all of the usual suspects, the set contains some upsetting rarities, such as "All Over" by Eccles and Neville, "Black Man Time" by Lee Perry, the original George Faith (AKA George Earl) version of "To Be A Lover" and a dubplate version of Keith Rowe's "Groovy Situation". The inclusion of several disco mixes ("Words", "Know Love", "Sons Of Slaves", "Bad Weed" and "City Too Hot") is a great bonus. I Am The Upsetter is just as crucial a set as Island's Arkology, and is a must for new fans as well as a collector's item for serious ones.
