Play On Mr. Music

Anyone who has seen the excellent Jeremy Marre documentary Roots Rock Reggae has marvelled over the footage of Junior Murvin and The Heptones in action at the Black Ark performing a song called "Play On Mr. Music". Most people wonder if the song was ever released; it wasn't. It was made up on the spot for the camera crew and never actually recorded. The Swiss reggae band The Mad Lighters teamed up with trombone legend Rico Rodriguez and recorded a version of the tune which nicely approximates the Black Ark sound. The rest of the album is enjoyable, dubbed up reggae and ska instrumentals - nice stuff.
