Babylon Falling

Babylon Falling - The Heptones

This tune has always been one of my favourite Black Ark tracks. It's "fire and brimstone" vibe really grabbed me when I first heard it.

Using the melody from Steam's 1969 pop hit "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye", The Heptones created a startling, apocalyptic lyric over a bouncy Black Ark rhythm. ("A mother have fe pick up her two kids and run / Because the fire a burn...")

The song was released on the Roots From The Yard, an interesting offshoot of VP Records that released more than 50 singles from a variety of producers including Bunny Lee, Joe Gibbs, Manzie Swaby and this devastating Lee Perry production.
